Testimonials

It is customary in the City of London for Livery Masters to donate a gift to their respective Livery Company on leaving office; generally the gift would be silverware, jewellery, art or furniture. The Worshipful Company of Technologists is a “Modern” Livery Company, having only been founded in 1986 so I had the dilemma of choosing a gift which would both reflect the City of London and the ancient traditions of a Livery Company together with the vibrancy of current technology.

Deborah Sandersley was recommended to me, as an artist who specialises in creating impactful artwork by the creation of photography and glassware and I commissioned her in 2007 to produce my gift to the Livery.

The artwork subsequently named “Reflections” depicts the City of London from a collage of photographic scenes, shot by Deborah, of locations or events which a Master of a Livery would frequent during his/her year of office and “ Reflections” specifically reflected mine. Deborah created the artwork by etching the photographs she had taken onto clear glass which had a facing screen of blue, blown glass and a backing mirror glass which gives a three dimensional effect. The artwork was mounted in a custom designed burnished steel frame.

The subsequent final delivered product was not only a unique rending which truly reflected events in my year, accomplished the challenge between ancient and modern, but also  did it in an extremely aesthetic, elegant and interesting way for a viewer. It is now mounted in a prominent position in the treasures room of the Information Technologists Hall and still continues to receive a notable number of positive remarks from guests to the Hall.

In summary, I have been highly delighted with Deborah work and skills and to have been associated throughout the design of something so personal to me; she was a pleasure to work with, most accommodating in discussion and engaging in execution, I most highly recommend her to you.

Kind Regards, Colin

Colin Knight – Past Master – Information Technologists (2007)

I have been fortunate enough to have worked with Debs on several projects over the last few years. On every occasion she was professional, enthusiastic and able to provide technical knowledge through her extensive experience, whilst remaining attuned to the clients’ needs. As an added bonus I find her a very pleasant and personable individual with a keenness to go the extra mile to get things just right.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Deborah Sandersley

We run a cookery school in Old Street and commissioned a pair of 4 metre long 1 metre high glass pieces. What we asked Debbie to do was no mean feat – create an interesting stained glass style screen to enable light to come through but provide privacy from the street. We gave her a budget and some quite tight timelines as we were getting near the cookery school opening day.

She delivered completely beyond our expectations. A professional, creative and innovative approach resulted in a truly magnificent piece which is remarked upon by everyone who enters our doors. Thanks so much Debbie for helping us create a truly unique space!
